Singapore has announced plans to build its largest-ever low-carbon data center park and expand investments in clean energy technologies such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).

The new facilities will be located on Jurong Island, the country’s petrochemical hub, and are expected to serve as a testbed for next-generation low-carbon industries through collaboration between the public and private sectors, leveraging Singapore’s existing energy and refining base.

Jurong Island to anchor low-carbon technology development

In a joint statement on Oct. 27, the Economic Development Board (EDB) and JTC Corporation pledged to jointly accelerate the decarbonisation of Singapore’s energy and chemical sectors. Nearly 300 hectares of land, roughly the size of 400 football fields, have been set aside to develop low-carbon hydrogen, ammonia, and CCUS solutions, with the goal of increasing sustainable product output by 1.5 times by 2030.
