Total Eren, Adaro Power and PJBI have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PLN for a 70-MW wind farm equipped with a 10-MW battery energy storage system to be located in Tanah Laut in Indonesia.
The Tanah Laut wind project will be built in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan. The wind farm will feature turbines with an individual capacity of over 6 MW tied to a 10 MW/10 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) that will balance the fluctuations in wind energy generation.
The construction of the Tanah Laut wind power plant’s is set to commence at the beginning of 2024 and projected to achieve commissioning in 2025.
Once commissioned, the power plant is expected to start supplying electricity in 2025 to support the Government’s renewable energy targets in Indonesia.
“Going forward, this PPA for the Tanah Laut wind power plant is expected to serve as a reference for wind power plant projects in particular, and for new and renewable energy in general, not only in terms of the competitive price but also as being acceptable to Independent Power Producers (IPP), PLN and the banking sector,” commented PLN Persero’s president director Darmawan Prasodjo.
The Tanah Laut wind project’s development has gone through a competitive process, out of which PLN appointed the consortium of Total Eren and Adaro Power as the tender winner.
The PPA signing shows that Indonesia is a promising investment destination for renewable energy projects for overseas investors said the parties.
