Thailand’s rooftop solar policy is expected to boost household adoption and support national emissions goals. The Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT) has called for a certified contractor list to protect consumers.
Industry expects surge in residential rooftop solar after policy boost
The Thai Cabinet approved new incentives in November 2025 to encourage households to install rooftop solar. The measures took effect immediately upon publication in the Royal Thai Government Gazette, offering tax breaks for eligible electricity users who install and begin using systems by Dec. 31, 2028. The government hopes the policy will broaden rooftop solar adoption and strengthen the long-term sustainability of Thailand’s energy mix.
