Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest corporate group, has quietly expanded into power sales and transmission through its renewable energy arm, VinEnergo.
Analysts say that by moving from renewable energy development into broader segments of the energy value chain, Vingroup is positioning itself as a vertically integrated player. This full-spectrum approach could support policy reform and contribute positively to both industry and economic development.

According to The Investor, a publication by the Vietnam Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE), recent filings indicate that VinEnergo plans to expand into nine business areas, including power generation, electrical equipment manufacturing, power system installation, and distribution. Notably, the company has added electricity wholesale and retail under its transmission and distribution operations.
However, neither Vingroup nor VinEnergo has officially confirmed the information. RECCESSARY reached out to VinEnergo, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
According to its official website, VinEnergo, established in 2025, focuses on renewable energy and energy storage development. The company aims to reach a total installed capacity of 80 GW by 2035 across domestic and international markets, targeting countries such as Vietnam, Laos, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Its projects are designed to serve the energy needs of urban areas, industrial zones, shopping malls, resorts, and entertainment centers.
