Medco Power targets Indonesia’s first renewable electricity export to Singapore

Indonesia’s power producer Medco Power Indonesia plans to export 600 MW of solar power to Singapore by 2028, a project that would mark Indonesia’s first-ever renewable electricity export and set a new milestone in regional power market liberalization. If fully realized, it would become one of the largest cross-border clean energy transactions in Southeast Asia to date.

Solar exports to Singapore to be delivered via subsea transmission

Medco Power, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s oil and gas giant Medco Energi, develops solar, geothermal and small hydropower projects across the country. In 2021, the company partnered with Hong Kong-based First Pacific and Indonesia’s Salim Group–linked developer Gallant Venture to export solar power from Pulau Bulang to Singapore through a high-voltage subsea cable.
