Singapore is taking cautious but concrete steps toward evaluating nuclear energy as part of its future power mix, while Vietnam may bring private companies into its revived nuclear program to accelerate the development of small modular reactors (SMRs). Both nations see nuclear technology as a potential game changer for their low-carbon transition.

The Singapore government has yet to make a final decision on adopting nuclear power, but its recent actions suggest a growing openness to the idea. In his February budget address, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong underscored that the newly restructured government would place greater emphasis on nuclear energy development.
