Following Samsung’s landmark direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) in Vietnam, Foxconn on June 9 announced a strategic partnership with Canadian investment firm Brookfield to co-develop 1 GW of renewable energy capacity in the country.
The portfolio will be paired with long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to supply green electricity to Foxconn’s operations and its broader supply chain.
How will the Foxconn–Brookfield partnership work?
Foxconn has not disclosed the current share of renewable energy used across its Vietnam operations. The planned 1 GW project, which spans wind, solar, and energy storage, signals a significant scale-up. However, neither Foxconn nor Brookfield has provided details on timelines, project structure, or implementation plans.

- Foxconn and Brookfield will jointly invest in 1 GW of wind, solar and energy storage projects in Vietnam to secure long-term green power supply.
- Leveraging Vietnam’s newly introduced DPPA framework, the projects will primarily deliver power via the grid, supported by long-term power purchase agreements.
- Foxconn’s renewable energy usage reached 67.38% in 2024, with the partnership expected to accelerate its RE100 and 2050 net-zero value chain targets.
