Equity funding for Southeast Asia’s data centre sector is heavily concentrated in Singapore, with five Singapore-headquartered companies accounting for 98% of the total raised. Yet much of their physical infrastructure is located elsewhere in the region, highlighting Singapore’s constraints in land and power supply.

Meanwhile, a recent survey by the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) suggests that the rapid growth of data centres will put increasing pressure on the city-state’s energy system, driving greater demand for energy storage and grid upgrades.

Which data centre company raised the most equity funding?

According to research firm Tracxn, data centre companies in Southeast Asia have raised a combined US$11.5 billion in equity funding. Five Singapore-headquartered companies dominate the market: DayOne, Princeton Digital Group (PDG), ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), Nxera, the data centre arm of Singtel, and Digital Edge.
