Green factories are becoming a basic requirement for major global brands operating supply chains in Vietnam, with low-carbon considerations extending from site selection to water and electricity use.
Vietnam ranked eighth in the 2025 LEED market ranking outside the U.S., released in February by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). A total of 100 projects in Vietnam earned LEED certification, covering more than 2.6 million square meters of gross floor area. The country entered the top 10 for the first time and ranked highest in Southeast Asia.
USGBC said industrial manufacturing and warehousing recorded the strongest growth in Vietnam in 2025, as export-oriented production and logistics facilities drove demand for green buildings.
The trend goes beyond industrial property developers pursuing green building labels. Multinational companies are extending their decarbonization requirements deeper into their supply chains, turning certifications such as LEED from an added advantage into an important requirement for Vietnamese manufacturers seeking international orders.
