Thailand’s leading industrial estate developer WHA Group is expanding into data center parks, as it seeks to capture rising demand from foreign technology firms. Chief Executive Officer Pajongwit Pongsivapai said the company is currently conducting a feasibility study, targeting international clients. He also urged the government to strengthen power grid infrastructure to enable greater integration of renewable energy.
Separately, Singapore-based data center operator ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has warned that Thailand’s data center growth will significantly boost demand for green electricity.
What industries is WHA targeting with its data center expansion?
WHA is studying the development of a dedicated “data center industrial park” in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), aimed at attracting foreign investors in data centers, cloud services, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Unlock the full article to explore three key takeaways:
- WHA's planned EEC data center park alone needs around 1,000 MW of green power.
- WHA earmarks THB 15–16 billion for 2026, over THB 9 billion for industrial estates.
- Singapore’s STT GDC estimates Thailand's data center green power demand could reach 1 GW within 1–2 years
